SLVNews.Net is a collaborative local media service. Our mission is to communicate, celebrate and enhance the quality of life in our community and to promote the accomplishments and efforts of local individuals organizations and businesses who are doing the same.
Whether you live, work, play or are just visiting the San Lorenzo Valley and the Santa Cruz Mountains it is difficult not to recognize the uniqueness that exists here. In order to maintain and enhance the quality of life that draws and ties us to this area we need to be vigilant and cooperative, use all the tools and technologies available and communicate honestly and openly.

The Network
Social networks online are the current rage but long before Twitter, Facebook or
Google+ we’ve had social networks in our community. Our families and friends; our
neighbors and colleagues our churches and non-
Connecting various networks increases their value and effectiveness and leads to the creation of new and more powerful alliances.
Our goal is to assist existing local networks connect to one another and beyond; by sharing information, providing promotion and communications services and by facilitating access to a wide variety of digital media tools, social media applications and best practices.

Jim Coffis, founder and publisher of SLVNews, is a Stanford educated, 30 year veteran of marketing and business development. He has run programs and consulted for a number of high tech companies like Apple, Adobe, Cisco, Oracle, Sun and more. He has experience and knowledge in all forms of media and advertising.
More importantly he is a 27 year resident of Ben Lomond and has been involved in a variety of community organizations. He was appointed to the Santa Cruz County Children’s Commission. He has served on numerous councils and ad hoc committees for the schools and on the boards of the Soccer Club, the Children’s Center and currently is a member of the Board of Directors of the Valley Women’s Club. He is married to Vicki Neville Coffis and the father of the Coffis Brothers, Jamie and Kellen.
